You may be the next Snoring Victim!

Snoring is a sleeping condition that can be experienced by anyone, male or female, young or old. It is a rather widespread sleeping disorder that can have serious consequences for some. So, even if you, or anyone else, for that matter, are not suffering from your snoring, you should still take it serious, as it is still vital to have the snoring treated since it also has negative effects to health and overall wellbeing.

Many people who snore are not even aware that they actually are snoring. More often than not, the snoring condition is observed by people who sleep near the person snoring. If you are sleeping alone and don’t know if you are snoring, there are certain signs that you should keep your eyes open to, to determine if you are snoring or not.

One of these snoring indicators is the feeling of continuous lethargy. Even if snoring usually occurs without the snorer noticing, it may well cause sleeping disturbances. Regular headaches is another pointer that you are not getting enough quality sleep due to snoring.

So, if you are living alone you have to look for the signs of snoring as anyone can be at risk of snoring. Nevertheless, some people, based on statistics, are more prone to snoring than others.

Older people, for example, have greater tendency to snore. The reason for this is largely the fact that old people, in contrast to younger people, have more relaxed muscle tissues. The main factor leading to snoring is relaxed muscle tissue collapsing in the back of the throat causing vibrations. Those vibrations are the sounds of snoring.

Men are more often snoring than women. The explanation is up till now not clear, but reports demonstrates that men are usually the ones who go for snoring treatment. One reason can be that men often have more muscle tissue in the neck area.

As a general rule snoring has a lot to do with the muscles and tissues in the throat as well as the makeup of the mouth. Overweight and obese people obviously have more massive throat muscles and tissues which narrows the air passageway. The palate and uvula collide with each other which leads to the snoring sound.

With a heavyset body more effort is required when breathing. The result is heavier vibrations in the throat area and thus louder snoring sounds. Overweight persons who are heavy snorers are normally advised to lose weight to ease the vibrations and thus the snoring.

Another factor that causes snoring is the structure of the mouth and jaw. This part of the breathing system may contribute a great deal to snoring. Persons born with certain mouth structure irregularities are more likely to snore. As usual it has to do with the atypical flow of air when breathing.

Snoring could also be of a hereditary nature. While the precise genetic framework leading to snoring is yet to be found, we have to take as a fact that some people are born to snore.

Many controllable factors might make person snoring.

One factor is the addiction to alcohol and certain drugs and medicines.

Drugs that relaxes the throat and neck muscles cause snoring. Sleeping pills for example have this effect. Even some stop snoring drugs can lead to even worse snoring if taken in excess. Alcohol, which you all know, has a relaxing effect on our bodies, leads to increased snoring.

We are many out here that are at risk of being snorers. Therefore it is important that we continuously check ourselves, in case we do not have anyone sleeping, or, maybe trying to sleep, is a better choice of words, next to us. Because, if we are snoring, we should try to stop the snoring as soon as we can. Snoring might sound funny and not to be taken as a disease, but, snoring can kill, so it should be treated if possible. Remember - snoring may be more serious than it sounds.
